Genesis and V5

Surprisingly, I have actually come across a few remarks here and there that express a certain amount of dissatisfaction by the fact that I made this for V4, and not for Genesis or V5, kindof implying that I made a mistake not to go for the hot and trendy Genesis and V5. Plus the name 'Erogenesis' seems to  confuse people. It has just as much to do with Genesis as Genesis has to do with those chapters from the christian holy book... sorry if that confuses you. I didn't even know it existed when I made the name up (did it exist back in 2011?).

Lali's Bits started out as something for myself, using what was available to me at the time... V4. Its pure coincidence that I used V4 for it. Before I had modified Poser's G2 character Sydney to unrecognisable proportions, so it could have been her. Besides that, I never planned for this to hit the stores, no marketing plan, especially since I half expected a 'Lali Bits' already existed (considering how long 3DX has been active), but I was wrong about that. I made it purely to speed up my comic work, and make it more fun to look at. It wasn't until people started messaging me, requesting her morphs that I thought about selling it.

A Genesis version? V5? Dunno... this one was tough enough, it took me almost a year to fine-tune the morphs, and making the injection was just plain terrible (and the DAZ version is killing me at the moment). As far as I can tell, V4 is still quite alive and kicking, and at the end of the day it is all about what you want to achieve with 3D art, and I am very satisfied with what Lali is doing for me

I've seen Genesis in action, sure, its got some advantages I suppose, but (edited from earlier) I am very reluctant to start all over again, delve into even more lousy software design and terrible coding structures, while I've got about 10 comics planned. Maybe in future I might go Genesis, or maybe an entirely different figure, no idea yet (and only if one of those companies gets their act together and makes it easier to make injections!!!)... but for now, I've got my hands FULL with Lali and her V4 girlfriends.

  1. One of the main benefits of Genesis is that you can seamlessly graft new geometry onto the base mesh (at least within DAZ Studio). This lets you extend or even replace parts of the mesh where the poly count is insufficient, and would really be perfect for your needs. No more manual prop-fitting, hand-matching edges, etc.

I for one would love to see a Genesis/V5 version of Lali bits. Given the popularity of Genesis I think you'd do quite well with it commercially.

    1. you might be right about the geografting thing, although I did hear stories from DAZ users that it was no all that its said to be, but like I say below, I think the thing that's putting me off is the experience I've had with making the injection (just terrible), and also how strange both the Poser and DAZ applications function sometimes, and also what Nakedfunn is saying.

Maybe someday I might get over it but I am not impressed with their lack of support for the file format, the injection system and their general interoperability.

  2. I completely understand any and all reluctance to deal with V5. The DSON importer makes it a maze to deal with.
Making morphs for it is a compound mess in addition to the already clusta-f*cked mess that it is.

It does have better built in JCMs that are extremely well done, but considering how long it'll take before it catches on with clothing and everything else any reluctance is understandable.

I think you've done a lot for Poser/DAZ 3d in sharing all that you have, so such complaints are very short sighted.
Too many expect everything given to them. Perhaps its time the complainers get a douce of reality - “Do it yourself, if you're not satisfied.”

  3. yeah I think that's more it... I'm just reluctant to start the whole damn thing over again'and delve into yet another DAZ creation which might seem all nifty on the outside... but if V4 was so hard to deal with programmatically, then Genesis must be a lot worse (correct me if I am wrong). I have had so enough of these completely frustrating applications (both of them) and their impenetrable file formats.

I've heard about the geografting thing and if that really works, great! But what would really really excite me is when one of the two companies comes up with a solution to export and sell all that wonderful shit that you make in their software with two clicks of a button, without having to consult old ass third party software, text editors, and pages 104-302 of Volume 45b of the 23rd article of the US Software Copyrights Act Law Shizzle to avoid accidentally getting nailed by DAZ!

    1. Its actually so compound quite ironic that they should name it Genesis considering everything DAZ/Poser.

I'm learning bits & pieces of the story. If it weren't for the 3rd party hacking (opening the gates to expanded versatility) these companies would have died a slow death until someone created something completely better, but because of the hacking it has matured (sloppy) into this wonderful mess we love.

So accurately a representation of life itself. The machines were broken, and made better. These companies have much to thank the 3rd party hacking as the hackers having in thanking the companies.
      The perfect allegory of life.

    1. thank you thank you :)
I haven't even had time to test it on WM. I downloaded it. I'll let you know. I suppose if you can dial the WM down or something? Never used it

  5. I'm quite happy with Genesis as it is. The fem.Genitals from DAZ are the most convincing DAZ/Poser genitals I have seen till then. I consider it as a DAZ Studio only solution, wich works fine. The only thing that's still missing is a real good looking "backdoor" for genesis. I've never used V4 because, she is too much limited with all her features. Just dialing pregiven parameters, and still not looking realistic. Not enough polygonns for morphing a pleasure zone, and conforming pussies used to look odd like taken from a preteen boy's dirty fantasies. Beside V4 weightmapped Lali bits is the first item that makes V4 really usefull to me. Finally modelled by somebody ;-),who actually knows what he is doing. Thank you so much for LaliBits.

    1. and thank you so much for buying it!!! :)

if I have time, I'll try to release another package some time to improve this 'realism' problem for V4. I think V4 is a fine platform for what I do, it just needs the right morphs and textures to make her look better.

  6. Just so ya know... I have my $$ set aside for the D|S friendly V4 version. If I want to use Genesis (not likely) then GenerationX can be finagled with to transfer a complete V4 morph to Genesis, so long as you don't mind working in stages and don't plan on animating it I have found this method to be quite useful. Again, cant wait for the D|S V4 version!

  7. Hey, if you need help in making the bits for Genesis, I can help some with that. Geo-grafting is easier than it sounds like. Second, they just revised their rules for geo-grafted meshes, so it might be worth it.

Hey, because of a sudden influx of spam, I need to moderate comments from now on, unfortunately. I'll try find a work-around in the meanwhile. Cheers!
