Erotica gets kicked in the nuts... again...

How many times in the history of mankind has some regional power attempted to stamp out erotica under some general moralistic ideal or belief... and failed? Answer: innumerable times!

How many times do we need to witness these completely immature and futile attempts at controlling human nature, and sit and wait until they tire of it or until they finally see that its useless!? Probably the same number of times! Somebody blow up the entire world!

I just got an email from Blogger:

Dear Blogger User,

We're writing to tell you about an upcoming change to the Blogger Content Policy that may affect your account.

In the coming weeks, we'll no longer allow blogs that contain sexually explicit or graphic nude images or video. We'll still allow nudity presented in artistic, educational, documentary or scientific contexts, or where there are other substantial benefits to the public from not taking action on the content.

The new policy will take effect on 23 March 2015. After this policy comes into force, Google will restrict access to any blog identified as being in violation of our revised policy. No content will be deleted, but only blog authors and those with whom they have expressly shared the blog will be able to see the content that we've made private.

Our records indicate that your account may be affected by this policy change. Please refrain from creating new content that would violate this policy. We would also ask you to make any necessary changes to your existing blog to comply as soon as possible so that you won't experience any interruptions in service. You may also choose to create an archive of your content via Google Takeout (https://www.google.com/settings/takeout/custom/blogger).

For more information, please look here (https://support.google.com/blogger?p=policy_update).

Yours sincerely,
The Blogger Team

First of all, what on earth do they mean with "sexually explicit or graphic nude images or video" and "We'll still allow nudity presented in artistic, educational, documentary or scientific contexts, or where there are other substantial benefits to the public from not taking action on the content."??? I've tried to seek clarification on their 'Help Forums' but all you'll get is some dude directing you to some rules page with even vaguer or older bullcrap about what Google attempts to mean with 'Adult Content'. In other words, its a gamble! Good luck avoiding the almighty Eye of Google after 23rd of March. I referred them to the TOS of Deviant Art, whom are at least friggin solidly clear about that's allowed and what not!

Second of all I don't have time to go through my entire blog and filter out the 'explicit stuff', and I have like 200 posts. There are many more artists, better than I am, that have WAY more posts than I do. Must they now sit down and sort out all their posts for the next few weeks to satisfy Blogger's sudden change in heart?

Don't you think we're noticing a pattern? What is this sudden crackdown on erotica everywhere? How far have we come since pompeii? Are we really going to pretend to be as embarrassed as those Victorian archaeologists? Have people become entirely asexual? Have the Taliban convinced us? Has the pope declared war on sex? Do people suddenly hate sex? Have people at Google stopped having sex? Or has paranoia won over our bedroom intimacies? Those few bastards that cannot keep their dicks in their pants are gradually succeeding in stealing away all erotic excitement from the healthy people in this world? Have the predators won the war for world sexual domination? And you're helping them succeed? Do we give in that easily?

Is it not possible to make some kind of a special non-erotica internet, some barren network that is not connected to erotica sites? A special asexual interwebs full of website of teddies, ponies and cupcakes or some religious babble, guarded by US NAVY SEALS for the sexually unbelonging / unable to surf in safety because I am fucking sick to death of having my adult fantasy rights dictated to me by mankind's general inability to keep their dick out of places where dicks don't belong!

Guys, there is such a thing as a healthy curiosity in sex, and censorship will just screw it all up. Leave healthy adults alone to explore this, think of another way to crack down on the sex criminals. How many items do you need to ban to see that banning shit doesn't work!!! Alcohol, drugs, porn, guns...! As Chaucer wrote in The Canterbury Tales: (and as I copied from another blog) “When something's difficult, or can't be had, We crave and cry for it all day like mad.” Or to put it in modern words: "If you outlaw porn, then only outlaws will have porn." Sound familiar?

Dammit I am trying to make erotica fun! I like having sex with my girlfriend and she likes having sex with me. We like fantasizing! We are not the only ones. Why is this such an issue? Every friggin woman's magazine is laden with innumerable articles about 'how to please your man in bed' (just like how pointless the rest of their articles are). All I'm trying to do is make is fun for both sides!

What am I going to do now? Wordpress? Or just move my base of operations to Deviant Art, where they seem to have a bit of common sense? But how long will it be until they start getting infected with this asexual virus that seems to be spreading around...?

  1. You can pass this around to all the 3D erotic artists you know. I had a feeling this was coming, as there was talk of it a couple years back. This was partially why I created Ambient Dimension, to allow erotic or downright pornographic 3D art. And you are ALWAYS welcome there! Tell me what you folks would like to see to make things more to your liking to post your 3D erotic art, and I will do my best to add it in! To be honest, I was hoping to have one unifying place where all 3D art, erotic and non erotic, can post stuff, but mostly, I wanted to see the erotic stuff not all spread over the internet in different corners. A place where it can be all gathered together. Let me know, anything I can do to help you folks move over, I will try and do. Heck, the website is free, so its already got no barriers to entry!

PS. Love the bits one of the best gens for V4 :D

    1. Thanks so much Nephanor. I checked out AD and it looks cool I'm signing up there soon and posting when I have time. I'll mention it in a following blog in the next few days. I'll be glad to help with graphics and whatnot.

Yes I agree that 3DX, or 3D figure art needs a central hub. People all around are talking about it. Who knows now we can finally get momentum to do it, I'm certainly going to follow up on Jim's offer below! that's a start!

      Cheers I'll keep you posted!

    2. I am actually looking at additions to the site so people who sell art (like yourself) can link to the product sale places, and use it as a jumping off point for your products, or those who have freebies can use it to link to the downloads themselves. Even looking to eventually have it so that the site will analyze what the price of the product is, so it can be displayed as well. I am also looking to get suggestions on how to improve the basic blogging I have built in.

  2. I do not think you have anything to be concerned with... yet. Likely they are speaking of the "blogs" that do nothing but (for example) steal samples of hardcore pornography from top name porn sites and then post them. There is a surprising amount of these popping up now and they use free-blog/ site services with ads to make money without paying for the "site". Personally, I would think your content would be considered art. Even if you did go back and censor your content, you would still be rolling the dice since the decision is really up to blogger. Also, just because they do not come for you now, does not mean they will not come for you later. Maybe it is time Ero set up his own web space with a fresh new word press blog? I understand that you may not have the time or money to spare at the moment but it really would be your best alternative. Not to shamelessly plug my services or anything but I am a professional web developer myself and would gladly take on the project at a discounted rate! I pretty much work exclusively with word press now and can do everything from domain name to after-launch maintenance. Lemme know if you are interested.

    1. thank you so much Jim. I'm going to take you up on that offer, you're right. Uncle Ero needs to get professional now. With the amount of work I have planned for myself this year I cannot afford to gamble with sexually peculiar companies like blogger, Google or Wordpress. To be fair, I'm surprised it lasted this long!!

So hey let me shoot you an email asap! I'll keep the design simple for now, I'm not super rich at the moment but we can always add more functionality later when the dukus start coming in.

I also know other artists that might like to make use of your services too!

  3. I got the same email.
Welcome to 2015 when the bureaucratic extension of politically correctness thought control expands into every form of entertainment and all that is left is a mass marketed jellyfish like robot unable to comprehend the complexity of human desire verses compulsion, or perversion.
I've yet to witness anyone of any kind of mass appeal status stand up against it. Not one.

These understandings require a complexity that far exceeds the usual yes, or no answers that society has yet to rationalize. I don't enjoy being cynical about this, but we've seen it coming. For every bit of free expression another form of control attempts to contain it until we're nothing but machines simply adhering robotic control.

    1. What I'm kindof hoping to do is to blur the boundaries between porno, erotica and normal comic storytelling with Lali stories. I love a good story, good dialog, believable acting, but I also love seeing a good romp! Personally I believe that erotica AND storytelling is suffering so immensely from this massive separation of the two as both of these aspects can strenghten each other, make the story WAY more thrilling. But to do that I'd need to sneak past the massive immaturity that has been ingrained into society.

Yes, I've also seen it coming, its not a surprise at all. But it still sucks when suddenly you need to mop up and thoroughly rid two years of work of honest fun. Its a damn shame.

But perhaps its a good thing, because erotica belongs with mature people, people that can handle their sexuality, and these big social networking companies are just a magnet for the thoughtless sheeple that will just not have the mental agility to understand the intricacies of stuff that's under their friggin noses on a daily basis.

    2. True, but I'll copy/paste something I posed elsewhere.

I believe this is much more insidious than just for porn. This about controlling human behavior to sell only what corporations see fit.

Society has created a path for reaching a higher moral plateau silently bullying to enforce obedience without questioning the absurdity of absolutes.

If our freedoms are truly worth keeping lines must be drawn far beyond porn or what's acceptable, the fight to demonstrate our freedoms no matter how seemingly outrageous as a barrier against control that's closing in on our future.

    3. Yeah I would even dare to extend it further, in that it is actually quite self-destructive to society to marginalize something as natural and powerful as erotica. I mean in our daily lives we get bombarded by commercials on these websites like Google and Facebook, that reflect just about everything we do on a daily basis, breakfast, cars, insurance, everything except for that erection in the morning. I wake up with erotica in my pants and that if a fucking natural thing! This gargantuan old-fashioned disparity between erotica and daily life might just be the root cause of most sexual evils. Sexual deprivation can lead to frustration, especially with something as curious as the human being! Banning or marginalizing porn might just make things even worse!!!

  4. I agree with nakedfunn.

This is another attack on free speech and free expression.
But I guess it's still OK to openly show people being tied up, whipped and acting out sexual assault on American based porn websites as long as they generate plenty of $'s. The hypocrisy is nauseating.

    1. One thing I found really fucking weird, is that in Europe, the porno mags were stacked high up on the shelves out of kids reach, but the gun magazines were directly in their line of sight. What fucking message must a kid get from that? Guess what I was more curious about as a 14 year old!!??

  5. Believe it or not my gf and I were just talking about this because of the recent "success" with 50 Shades of Grey. Have you read anything in that book? It is shameful to pass it off as talented story telling! Society has to make a distinction between art and pornography and each should be handled appropriately. When I was growing up (1990's - 2000's), my favorite form of erotica didn't have any pictures in it what so ever! It is sad to think of what some erotica has evolved into. There should be just as much dedication to the story as much as the art. Both the writing and the visuals are an art in their own right. On the flip side, pornography used to have eroticism rather than just graphic depictions of sex. Again, some of my favorites and pretty much the only ones I ever paid attention to were full length, feature films. As crappy as the acting was, at least they put some friggin' effort into giving you your money's worth!

    1. I've heard of the book, never read it. I think you're talking about just being mature about sex, erotica, porn... or basically just the human condition! If nobody takes the time to make any distinction about what porn / sex / erotica is within themselves or in general, its a recipe for a personal, or even social disaster. We just won't notice because its been going on forever! I am a 36 year old male and I know my sexual feeling s very well. I know what sex is, I know what it means to have sex with a girl, I know what girls like in bed, I know what individual girls like in bed, I know what sex can bring about in a relationship, I know that there is a fuckload of psychology involved with sex, I know what porn meant for me in my teens, I know what it means now, I know what I wanna say with my comics, and most of all I am not ashamed to have sexual and erotic feelings, and I'm definitely not ashamed of talking or fantasizing about it. I consider myself mature about my sexuality, most likely because I've given it a lot of thought. I am not oversexed, I'm not a sex-maniac, I like music, food, landscapes, paintings, photography and stories just as much as erotica. I can say that with ease because I haven't built up any frustration. Society, the media, these companies should sit down and start thinking maturely about erotica, and not stick their head in the sans as if it does not exist. These companies have the means and the power to lead erotica into good areas, control it, educate people, make them grow the fuck up. Its funny, I actually hate that Google has so much control but they could use it for such good things!

  8. This world becomes more disgusting everyday. Bigots are everywhere and sadly enough, they often are those with powerful lobbies. At some point there were discussions about creating a .xxx extension for adult-related websites and I don't see this taking off, which is sad: at least people wouldn't be able to whine about it and results could be filtered. Then, the holier-than-thou jackasses would have their tit-free internet without harming artists who create erotica. But hey: why favor a *simple* solution when you can annoy so many instead?
I think it's exactly what it's all about: it isn't enough to point at erotica angrily, what these dickless fucks want is to enforce their point of view on everybody. Hasn't it always been the way, after all? As for myself, I am not much of an artist (I do better at writing scenarii) but I'll always stand up for erotica. As we all should.
Once upon a time, a great artist named Jerry Lee Lewis was told by his predicator of a brother that he would burn in hell for his music and how he led his life in general. I'll quote the man himself there:

"I might descend into hell, but I'll do so playing the piano all the way down!"
Nuff said. I'm with you, Ero.

  9. Ero, it looks like Blogger is relenting, at least about non-comercial pornography. Since you do not sell directly from this blog, you might dodge the whole thing. I sure hope so.

  10. Good news, they may be changing their minds about the changes. I'm not exactly certain how they'll deal with comercial porn when linked.
